MEMBERS of East London Golf Club have known for decades what the Sunshine Tour learnt over the week’s activities leading up to and the playing of the Africa Open; this is a great club, with a fine course, an outstanding team spirit, and members committed to the club’s well-being.

His par putt on the 18th lipped out, and Retief Goosen had visions of one of the chasing pack catching him, but his final round 65 was enough to win the Africa Open at the East London Golf Club by a single stroke.

Golfers refer to the Saturday of a tournament as “moving day”, but Richard Sterne’s course record 61 in round three of the Africa Open took the saying to ridiculous lengths as he charged his way around the East London Golf Club.

Angel Cabrera from Argentina, got the second Africa Open tournament off to a fine start by setting a new course record 10 under par, 62. 

In a recent article on the SA Compleat Golfer website, ELGC was rated amongst the top 10 most challenging courses in South Africa, and one of the best value for money courses.
